Happy Half-Birthday, Boys!

Today all the brothers from Litter A turned 6 months old!  Happy birthday, boys!  We cannot believe time has gone so quickly.  All the reports we get back from their families are very positive.  All the brothers are very happy, confident, well-adjusted young guys.  Ears are standing up well and they are all just as handsome as can be!  Every time we get an update from one of our puppy families we are so happy!  Here are some relatively recent pics of a few of the boys.

Pregnancy Update

We received the disappointing news today that the breeding between Ali and Anya did not take.  We apologize to those of you who got your hopes up about getting a puppy from us this spring.  We had our hopes up too.  However, we will try one more time to get a successful breeding out of these two amazing dogs.  We'll see if we can time things a little better and will hope for a successful paring when Anya goes into heat again this coming June or July.  Keep checking our blog and Facebook page for updates about future litters, previous litters, or any other news we may want to share.

And...Happy Valentine's Day from Snow Springs Dobes!

Ultrasound

Anya just had her ultrasound at the vet.  The results were inconclusive.  The vet wants her to return again next Friday (Feb. 14th) for another ultrasound to see if we can get a better look at things.  Admittedly, we are disappointed, but are still holding out hope for next week.  If puppies are found, we will be thrilled!  If not, we will look forward to the next opportunity to try again with Ali this summer.  Keeping our fingers crossed.....

Meeting up with Dante

We are blessed that we get to see Dante (red collar from litter A) every Saturday at our local dog socialization class.  All the other puppies are spread out across the country.  Dante loves to come see his mama, give her kisses, and try to get her to play.  He does the same with "Uncle Mack."  Here are a couple cute pics we took of the dogs after class.

He always has to give Patrick a little sugar.  :o)  Dante is such a sweet, loving, good-natured boy!

A little plug for socialization: Socialization is SO IMPORTANT for dogs, especially a growing puppy.  The more they are exposed to the less their likelihood of developing bad behaviors with people and/or other dogs.  Puppies leave our care having met a minimum of 100 different people and several dozen friendly, healthy dogs.  We give them the best start possible in this area.  But, it is up to the new owners to continue properly socializing their puppy before he/she reaches maturity.  I love it when I see our puppy owners taking this seriously and providing ample opportunities for their puppy to develop healthy social habits and experiences.  If you have questions about how to properly socialize your puppy, just ask!  We are happy to encourage and help in any way possible!

Breeding Update 2: Ali & Anya

It has been almost 3.5 weeks since Anya was bred.  She is acting very pregnant!  She sleeps all day and her appetite has increased.  We are taking this as an excellent sign that everything is moving forward exactly as it should with this pregnancy.  We can't wait for the ultrasound on February 7th!

Breeding Update: Ali & Anya

Anya went to the vet this week for surgical A.I..  Everything went really well and she is now resting and healing up very well.  We are hoping and praying that this breeding takes and that we have some puppies in  a couple months!  On February 7th we return to the vet for an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy.  We can hardly wait!!!

Stud Anouncement: Ali, "Tara's Best of Island"--JRCH, IPO-2, BH, CGC.

We are excited to announce that we have chosen the stud for our next litter! Meet
Ali, AKA: "Tara's Best of Island"--JRCH, IPO-2, BH, CGC.  We have very high hopes for this litter (anticipated mid-March 2014)! He is the son of the much sought after
World Champion Fedor Del Nasi. He is a beautifully and powerfully built European Doberman and we can't wait to see what he and Anya create together!

After being imported from Europe, here is what his original US owner says about him: "Junior Champion, IPO-1. On his first adult shows he earned 2X CACIB and Best of Breed! 'Ali' is a trained protection dog. He is described by some as "Simply one of the best working dogs ever!" A Very powerful male, son of the world champion Fedor del Nasi and a perfect build and frame. When a dog looks like this and can still do the work, that is a dog not to be overlooked by anyone.

"Ali is very good with children and has great confidence in any situation. He is eager to please and very willing to work. This is a dog I am more than impressed with overall. Ali has street obedience as well as competition obedience, he tracks, and he does sport and real civil protection. This dog does live bite, and is very clear in the head. He worked a security event with nearly 600 people in attendance for a 7 hour shift. He has great nerves, bonds very tightly, and is very willing. He reads situations well and can react accordingly."

You can see more pictures of Ali by visiting his album on our facebook page HERE!
Since Ali is a beautiful Red Doberman and Anya has a red gene factor, we anticipate this coming litter will most likely be half red/rust, half black/rust.  We are so excited about this litter and hope that all goes as expected!

Anya: Heat!

Anya is in heat!  She had her first appointment with our vet, Dr. Carl Pew, this morning and was given a 100% clean bill of health and recommendation to proceed with the next breeding.  We are excited about what is coming in the days and weeks ahead!  Anya heads back to the vet Thursday for the first of her progesterone testing, which will continue every couple days until her numbers are in the appropriate range for the breeding to occur.

Here are some pictures of our pretty girl Anya, taken today.  She really loves the snow!

"You'll never catch me, Mack! Ha ha ha ha!"
"Happy, happy, happy!"

A Visit With Mom

Look who came for a little visit!  Dante stopped by to play with his mommy and also get his ears taped up nice and tall.  No more cup on the head for this little man!  He and his momma had such a fun time wrestling and playing, snuggling and kissing each other.  What a fun couple hours!
